There are a million ways to show our plants that we love them, as well as lovingly caring for them. In this article I would like to tell you how I look to the future of our loved ones by writing to me how I decided to embark on a more eco-sustainable life to preserve them.

🪴 For the garden:

I give away plants I have grown that don’t require special care to raise awareness of recycling and love for nature and its many benefits. I don’t use pesticides. I reuse glass jars, cups and nursery pots to make gift cuttings.

🚶🏻‍♀️ Transportation:

My partner and I don’t drive around (we don’t even own a car); rarely by motor and very often on foot.

🏠 For the home:

We don’t turn on the heating; we invest in renewable energies. We no longer buy: air fresheners, sponges/dust traps; we use old ruined clothes. To clean most of our house we do not use sprays of various brands but we prefer apple cider vinegar.

🛁 For the bathroom and hygiene:

We use: shampoo, conditioner and solid soaps; I reuse the toilet paper rolls by cutting the bottom in four making small pots for my little cuttings or seeds. We no longer buy: perfumes, softeners, make-up, cotton swabs, cotton pads, nail polish, disposable masks, make-up remover wipes or wipes of various kinds; we don’t buy disposable razor blades and sanitary pads. I use machine washable pads but once they are no longer usable (about 3/5 years) I will opt for the menstrual cup.

👩🏻‍🍳 In the kitchen:

All the scraps of: fruit, vegetables, branches, leaves, paper/cardboard without prints and non-diseased dead plants I reuse them for composting; we save all the seeds we can, always trying to germinate them to grow our food; we never waste food and have drastically reduced the consumption of meat and fish; I’m personally striving to become a vegetarian. We do not buy: packaged biscuits, parchment paper or disposable films, I use cloth napkins (I keep the paper ones aside when they give me them in bars, restaurants, ice cream parlors and I reuse them for compost and to root seeds), tea bags disposable (I use a steel filter). We don’t buy plastic bags but we always use canvas ones for shopping and we don’t buy single doses of dried fruit.

☕️ Drinks:

We don’t buy plastic bottles to drink water. We always carry our 75ml steel bottle with us. We don’t buy straws, carbonated or various kinds of drinks and plastic cups. For coffee or tea / take-away herbal teas I always use a 30ml steel glass.

🛍️ Shopping:

We haven’t bought new clothes (for years and years…) and if we find it necessary to buy new ones, we always choose used ones. We limit online purchases, when we do that we always look for companies that can be carbon neutral but we always try to buy in local shops.
Unfortunately, in my city, I don’t know of shops that allow me to buy by refilling my containers, as could be done for: pasta, legumes, detergents… otherwise I’d go shopping like this.

🐈 For the cat:

We don’t use the litter box and we don’t buy her toys; she lives mainly outside preserving her nature and her hunting skills; she loves nature, like us! 😍

They are small actions, which done by each of us, can really make a difference.
I obviously realize that not all of these actions can be put into practice by everyone (because maybe you live in big cities, your cat loves to stay indoors, whatever…); but adopting even just a few precautions I think is already an excellent goal!

I know that multinationals or that in any case many companies don’t adopt eco-sustainable solutions, but we are starting to change things already in our homes. We are not alone: we are a big family rooted all over the world!

We have chosen to embark on this new way of living primarily because it makes us feel good and more connected with nature and our being. Remember that you must always do what makes you feel good and that no one will ever judge you.

I shared these actions of ours because I really hope they can help and give or receive inspiration from all of you. With all my heart I wish we could help each other to make this planet a better world!

Do you have any other green action to recommend?

Love you, bye! 💗
